Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED) training and certification courses are offered by commercial, non-profit and municipal organizations. Of the non-profits that offer training, the American Red Cross CPR and AED certification courses seem the most straightforward and are available in major metropolitan areas across the country. Classes last 3 hours and cover cardiopulmonary resuscitation and how to operate a defibrillator. Cost in the New York City area is about $105. Upon successful completion of the class, your certification good for 2 years.
